How we estimate

What moves the number

Mobile detailers price by the work a job requires, not by how dirty the car looks. Four things move your number, from biggest to smallest:

Service tier. A basic exterior wash, a full interior extraction, paint correction, and a multi-year ceramic coating are different amounts of labor and product. The calculator starts from the real base range for each.

Vehicle size. A compact runs about 0.85× a midsize; a large SUV ~1.2×; a truck or 3-row ~1.35×; luxury and exotic cars carry a chemistry-and-insurance premium on top.

Your metro. Cost of living is the biggest geographic factor — high-cost coastal metros run 15–25% over the national average.

Add-ons. Pet hair, smoke and odor, child seats, engine bay, and headlight restoration each stack on top of the base service.

Pricing FAQ

Cost calculator questions.

How accurate is the detailing cost calculator?
It returns the typical market range for your exact service, vehicle size, and add-ons, calibrated against thousands of real mobile-detailing listings. It's an estimate to anchor on, not a binding quote — the final price comes from the detailer after they see the car.
Why is mobile detailing priced by service instead of how dirty the car is?
Detailers price by the labor a service requires. A full detail is the same work on a clean Tesla or a muddy F-150 — what moves the number is the service tier, vehicle size, your metro, and add-ons like pet hair or odor removal.
Does location change the price?
Yes. High cost-of-living coastal metros run roughly 15–25% over the national average; lower-cost regions run 5–15% under. Pick your state for a localized range.
What add-ons cost extra?
Pet hair extraction ($40–$80), smoke/odor treatment ($60–$120), child-seat removal ($30–$50), engine bay ($50–$80), and headlight restoration ($60–$120) stack on top of the base service.
